At Hilton’s Funeral Directors, we understand that planning a funeral involves many questions and considerations. Below, we address some of the most common inquiries to help guide you through the process.
How Many People Can be Seated in a Limousine?
Our limousines can accommodate up to 6 people in the rear compartment, with an additional seat available next to the chauffeur in the front.
How Do We Know What To Do At The Funeral?
On the day of the funeral, our experienced Funeral Director will be present to guide and assist you, your family, and friends. Please feel free to raise any questions or concerns with them at any time.
Can The Family Carry The Coffin?
Yes families can choose to carry the coffin, our experienced staff will be there to instruct and offer guidance and support with this - alternatively a wheeled bier can be used for a dignified entrance into the chapel.
Can We Visit The Deceased And Pay Our Last Respects?
Our Funeral Home is open for visitation at your convenience. If you wish to visit our private chapel, please let us know in advance so that we can arrange for a staff member to assist you.
Can We Have The Deceased Brought Home?
Yes, we can arrange for the deceased to be brought home either before the service or on the morning of the service, as per your preference.
Can We Choose What Music Is Played At The Crematorium?
Absolutely. You can request specific music for the entry or exit at the Crematorium Chapel. Due to copyright laws, please provide original recordings or family recordings. We ask that music selections be finalised at least 48 hours before the funeral.
Can We Request Donations To Charity?
Yes, if you prefer charitable donations over flowers, we can manage the collection.
Does The Coffin Move After The Funeral Service At The Crematorium?
No, the coffin remains in place until all attendees have left the Crematorium Chapel. In some cases, curtains may close across the coffin’s upon request.
Is Each Cremation Carried Out Individually?
Yes, each cremation is performed individually, adhering to strict procedures to ensure proper identification and care.
Do I Get the Cremated Remains Back That Belong To Me?
Yes, after the cremation, the remains are placed in a temporary container with clear identification. We can assist with transferring these remains to a permanent urn or casket if required.
What Can I Do With The Cremated Remains?
You have several options for the cremated remains, including placing them in a Garden of Remembrance, interring them in a grave, keeping them in a special urn at home, scattering them in a meaningful location, or burying/scattering them on an existing family grave (subject to regulations). Please contact us for further details on these options.
How Soon After A Burial Can I Place A Headstone On The Grave?
The timing for placing a headstone can vary. Earth graves generally require up to six months for settlement before a headstone can be safely installed. Raft plots allow for immediate placement.
What Happens with a Headstone Removal?
If a headstone needs to be removed for a burial, we can coordinate this service with a qualified stone mason.
